1. Manage the overall running of both DC and DB Pension and Provident Funds – including Benefit Structuring, Coordination of administration, accounting, legal and actuarial functions and liaising with internal departments on issues.
2. Manage workflow to ensure ultimate client service and attainment of client objectives while ensuring that deadlines are met pertaining to the management of funds.
3. Set up, attend and chair Trustee Meetings, Fund Management Board meetings and employer meetings.
4. Report on the particular fund’s status and explain the implications of certain decisions to Trustees, Fund Management Board members and Employers.
5. Prepare agenda, trustee packs and action items raised in Trustee Meetings, Management Committee meetings and client meetings.
6. Co-ordination of annual benefit statements.
7. Checking of the fund’s annual financial statements and presenting financial statements to the client.
8. Checking of provident and pension fund rule amendments, rules and benefit statements prior to distribution to the client.
9. Review of fees and rates payable.
10. Arrange Trustee/Management Committee training.
11. Provide professional employee benefit consulting advice in accordance with the relevant legislation.
12. Keep self and clients abreast of industry developments.
13. Provide advice pertaining to investments, legislation and pending changes, which have an impact on the employee benefits programme.
14. Check rules and policies for discriminatory provisions.
15. Compile reports and proposals for Trustees and Management Boards.
16. Monitor risk benefit structures and rates, and provide consulting advice to limit risk of external factors such as AIDS on the balance of Fund members.
17. Conduct market testing of insurance rates on a regular basis.
18. Formulating investment strategies based on the objectives of the members of the Funds.
19. Provide advice on investment performance, investment managers and assist clients in determining appropriate investment strategies.
